Patient Care & Services Needs

The LRMC Foundation utilizes philanthropic funds each year to enhance our many patient care areas such as Oncology, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Palliative Care, Stroke, etc. Whether its purchasing a blanket warmer for our Emergency Department, providing educational literature for heart attack survivors or giving a hot meal to a needy family with a sick child, your gifts touch countless lives of patients who are ill and in need of comfort, care and healing.

Below are some specific examples of patient care programs that depend on the Foundation for their funding:

Cancer Clinical Trials – millions of people are alive today because a better treatment was discovered through medical research, and through clinical trials like those being conducted at the Lakeland Regional Cancer Center.

Care Notes – provided through our Pastoral Services Department, Care Notes deliver words of coping and healing for families dealing with a variety of traumatic illnesses and experiences throughout the hospital.

Child Life Therapy – a program administered in our Pediatric Departments helps children cope with the fear that comes with being hospitalized. Our specially trained child life therapist distracts children during difficult procedures, educates them about tests and diagnoses and provides fun, engaging activities on a daily basis for our most “playful” patients.

Healing Arts – a coordinated effort of dozens of volunteer community artists who bring their talents to our patients in the form of music, art, sculpting, beadwork, journaling and more in order to soothe the sick and help heal the soul.
