Equipment & Facility Needs

Keeping up with the ever-changing field of healthcare is a constant challenge – one that requires long-range vision and planning. Our medical center has fought hard to respond to the needs of our community and stay on the forefront of technology. To do that, there is a need to continually update our hospital facilities as well as the equipment we use to provide the most advanced care.

Below are some specific examples of facility and equipment needs the Foundation has funded in the past and plans to help fund in the future:

LRMC Pediatric Unit – Thanks to $1.5 million from our community, LRMC boasts one of the most comprehensive and unique spaces dedicated to Pediatric health in the state of Florida.

Neonatal Intensive Care – Keeping critically-ill babies close to home is a major priority for LRMC. Recently, the Foundation purchased all new critical care beds for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our next plan will be to expand our NICU significantly and raise its rating level so that more children under 2 pounds can stay in Lakeland for care.

Emergency Services Renovation – plans are in the works for a significant renovation to our existing Emergency Department which includes an expanded Patient/Family Lounge, an enhanced Pediatric Emergency Department and additional space to allow our Emergency Medicine specialists to more efficiently deliver care to our community.

Intensive Care Units – The Foundation plans to support a major renovation of our Trauma, Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units, elevating those facilities to a level of quality that matches that of the skilled professionals who manage and maintain them.
