Elaine C. Thompson, PhD, FACHE

CEO, Lakeland Regional Health Systems
President, LRH Foundation

Elaine C. Thompson, PhD, FACHE, is a visionary healthcare leader and talented strategist. She is credited with assembling Lakeland Regional Health’s elite executive team, comprised of some of the nation’s most accomplished and innovative professionals. Under her bold direction and desire for continuous improvement, LRH has expanded its scope of services and has risen to prominence on a national level.

Dr. Thompson joined Lakeland Regional Health in 2010 and immediately began the process to create a strategic vision centered on medical staff collaboration and performance, and patient safety improvements. Her initiatives include a multidisciplinary performance improvement of the largest single site Emergency Department in the nation that has prompted international attention and digitization of the Medical Center using a single electronic health records system.

Dr. Thompson’s fierce passion for patient and community wellbeing leads her to work tirelessly with community, legislative and business leaders, and physicians to improve health services. In 2012, she was named toBecker’s Hospital Review’s “Top 100 Non-Profit Hospital CEOs to Know,“ and in 2013, 2014 and 2015, she was listed as one of its “130 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know.” She was also listed among its “130 Women Healthcare Leaders to Know.” In 2014, Elaine Thompson was recognized for her extraordinary achievements in healthcare and her passion for higher education by Arcadia University with an honorary Doctorate of Medicine. She currently serves on the Florida Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees.

Timothy J. Boynton

Associate Vice President

Tim Boynton joined Lakeland Regional Health in 2013. His unwavering determination and enterprising insight have played an integral role in the success of Lakeland Regional Health Foundation.

Under Mr. Boynton’s tenure, the Foundation has received its single largest gift, initiated a successful Annual Giving Program and recently concluded campaigns that culminated in the opening of the Bannasch Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation Medicine and a major expansion to our Hollis Cancer Center. He is now leading major fundraising initiatives for the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children, expected to open in 2018.

As Associate Vice President of the Foundation, Mr. Boynton oversees the planning and execution of several much-anticipated community events, including Women in Philanthropy’s Annual Luncheon, ’Twas the Night, Philanthropist of the Year, and the annual Promise Run 5K and 10K.

Prior to joining Lakeland Regional Health, Mr. Boynton was Manager of Development for Maine Medical Center, where his fundraising efforts were focused on the Maine Children’s Cancer Program at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland. Tim Boynton also spent time working at the Elliot Health System in Southern New Hampshire.

 Mr. Boynton has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and has extensive training from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.

Julia DiSpada

Executive Assistant + Development Coordinator

Julia has been with the Foundation since 1996. She provides administrative support to the Executive Director and staff. She also give a helping hand wherever needed – events, mailings, seminars, etc. Julia is a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School of Business and attended Baruch College and Brookdale Community College in New Jersey.

Arletta Black Torres

Manager of Special Philanthropic Giving

Joining the Foundation in October of 2013, Arletta’s focus is on fundraising via sponsorships, corporate relationships and Women in Philanthropy. She relocated to Lakeland from Manhattan where she was the Director of Development for the non-profit SoHo Partnership and previously in Marketing, Sales and Corporate Affairs for American Express. Arletta grew up in Dallas and graduated from the University of N. Texas with a Bachelors of Fine Art. She is continuing her studies with the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Jodi Ridley

Manager of Special Events

Jodi joined the Foundation in December of 2015. Prior to working at Lakeland Regional Health, Jodi was an event coordinator and fundraising campaign coordinator and trainer for Publix Supermarkets. She has been in the events and fundraising field since 2006. Jodi attended Lee University in Cleveland, TN and Polk State College.
